Printer Sharing problem

I have a home network of one desktop PC and one laptop, both running windows XP.

I have a printer attached to the desktop PC, which is shared.

The existing XP laptop can print to this printer as long as the desktop PC is turned on.

I now have a new laptop, running windows 7.

I want to also be able to print from this laptop.

However, when I try to add a network printer, it can't find my shared printer.

Windows 7 is new to me, I have no idea where to look to fix this.

Can anyone offer any help?

you haven't done this, load the printer software on the new laptop computer and make it the default printer.
Also be sure to put it in the same work group.

I understand about the the printer software, but how do I sort out the work group?

The laptop is configured to be part of a domain when it is at work.
