Adding storage to a Server 2008 network

I just started a new job and on there server running Server 2008 they have a 1TB hd it is mirrored. Issue I saw right away is they save EVERYTHING there. Is there an easy way to just add diskspace like as an external storage or whatever without having to rebuild server and rebuild raid?

Before you touch it, you should know how to back up the server and restore if before you attempt something like this.

The added space should be trivial for IT staffers so let's begin with you telling us what course you took or seminars on this server.

Some had none and think you can condense such an upgrade into 3 paragraphs.
