Data Verification Hangs on iOmega ix2-200 NAS

I have had the above mentioned iOmega NAS for about 1.5 years: 2@ 1TB drives in a Raid 1 configuration, powered through a ups. About every 3 months, automatic data verification gets stuck before completion. iOmega's support says the only way to fix this is to back up all data and rebuild the array. This is a very time-consuming fix. Also, I am soon going to have to buy another hard drive to hold the data I have stored on the NAS.

This problem appears from time to time on iOmega's support forum, so I am not alone in my experience.

I cannot recommend this iOmega NAS while this continues. Can you suggest a fix? If not, can you recommend a more reliable NAS? Thanks.
