AT&T Broadband Link issues

So about a year ago I moved to a new apartment and unfortunetly had AT&T pushed onto me by my roommate. Losing the connection I was used to and going back to speeds comparable to the first dsl ever offered was one thing, but that isn't the issue.
The issue I have is often times, basically daily(anywhere from once to 20 times a day), my connection drops out and I am presented with the ugly screen of "The Broadband Link is Currently Not Available". Anywhere from ten seconds to 2 minutes later it fixes itself. Normally you would think that the broadband link dropped. Problem is, it doesn't. Both of my current roommates never have this issue. I never get it on my laptop either. It seems to be isolated to just my desktop and I have tried numerous things to resolve the problem, none of which work. It also seems to increase the frequency that it happens when more people are connected to the network or more programs are accessing the internet.
I am a very experienced computer user and I would usually do my best to fix the issue myself, but I am at wits end. I am on Windows 7 64-bit and connected wirelessly to the network. My instincts are telling me that it is a feature in Windows 7 that is causing the connection problem since it seems that is the only os that it happens on. I run Windows xp, Mac OSX, and Backtrack 4 on my laptop, all of which works flawlessly.
Does anyone know of what could possibly cause this? Maybe a simple registry tweak that could disable some sort of windows 7 sharing feature that is causing it?
