there is an ip address conflict with another system on the n

small home network.
2 XP PCs (SP2 with all other security patches),
1 wireless and one connected to router
linksys router (DHCP enabled)
run ipconfig/all - addresses are ...100 and ...101
still get error message.
any ideas ?

This issue will come up when any machine on the network has been used for Internet Connection Sharing using the Windows ICS feature of WinXP.

Disable that and the problem may go away.

Alternatively look in Network Connection settings and verify that under TCP/IP properties the Obtain DNS and IP Address Automatically boxes are ticked.

My spouse turned off his network sharing and I don't have the problem any longer. Found you through a Google search.
