Can't access the Linksys router config page. . .

Down in south Texas visiting a friend. Brought my laptop to "keep in touch", he has DSL. Knew he has a Linksys wireless router (that I set up about a year ago with WPA) so I thought I'd just get his passkey and go on line. Well, he's not computer literate and didn't write it down. No sweat, I'll just plug my laptop into the WRT54G, go to the config page, 192.168.1.1, look at the wireless security page and get it. Nope. When I type that address in I get the "Page cannot be found" screen. Huh? Thinking he may have messed with it I tried 192.168.0.1. Nope. He swears he has not touched the router and I believe him. But why can I not get the config page? BTW, I did try wireless and I get the wireless networks list and his router is there, secured. I'm surfing perfectly now, getting my email, all sites work like a champ. But I cannot get the router page.
Any thoughts besides resetting the router?
