Windows XP Home Networking Problems

I am currently having problems getting my desktop PC to connect to my ADSL router. When I try IPCONFIG/RENEW I am told that it has timed out because it can not connect the DHCP server. I thought it was the router and swapped it, then I thought it was the NIC, so I swapped that as well and it still is not working. I know the DSL connection is working as my xbox connects to it with no problems at all.

Please help.

Try connecting the modem directly to the PC and see if it gets a valid IP from there. If so your issue is in the router configuration or the hardware anomaly( bad cable/bad port).
