Streaming video with a home wifi

Hello friends here at CNET, I had posted this on the home audio and video forum a few weeks ago, and only received one reply without a solution. I did not find this forum before, but believe this forum, Networking & Wireless Forum, may have the solutions. Thank you.
My question is, can anybody direct me to the place on CNET that explains how to create streaming video (or audio?) with a home wifi connection? I know I had seen the subject of this somewhere on CNET. I believe it was on one of their free instruction courses, possibly their home theatre course. If so, their instructors probably would not be available until they have the course going, some time later.
I already have a very good wifi connection going, with ATT Yahoo DSL. But that is my internet service that is wifi. Sending my own stuff wifi is another matter. Anybody with suggestions or could at least point me to the source of this subject?
PS - Another question that I had on this subject:
Anybody with recomendations on low priced video card or tv tuner that I could install into my 900 mhz Compaq Presario? What I am interested in using a tv tuner or video card with tuner is 1) for accessing tv emergency new specials; 2) a video card for streaming video with wi fi into other rooms of my apartment. I don't know much about either: if there is a combo tv/video card (I believe there is); if video cards are used for streaming video... Maybe somebody can point me to sources of information on these subjects.
Thanks for your attention on this subject.
