Need to add Linksys wireless router to Linksys Wired hub

This wired hub network I am working on keeps expanding!
The 8-port Linksys hub for this wired network is connected to a cable modem at the WAN port. All ports on the hub are connected to PC's and devices. Now, there is the need to connect a couple of laptops wirelessly. I am using a Linksys 54G wireless router. The wired hub does not have a uplink port. Hence, I connected the router to one of the ports.
Linksys hubs and routers default to IP address 192.168.1.1. Hence, I configured the wireless router to 192.168.1.2 and also stopped the DHCP service at the router.
The laptops do not connect with Internet wirelessly nor if connected by wire to the router. Am I missing some other setting/s I should be tweaking?

use the router to share the Internet connection? Connect the hub to the router.

Thanks Darton for your suggestion. However, the Linksys Help desk people guided me through to meet my need to add a wireless router to the wired switch. I thought you would like to note how:
They had me first upgrade the firmware on the WRT54G router.
Next they had me set the wireless router -before connection to the switch- to 192.168.2.1 with DHCP enabled.
Next, after linking the router to the switch they had me open IE Internet Options, on the machine connected to the router, delete all cookies, and open Connections-LAN Settings, remove check mark from "Automatically detect". Pulled the power from both the switch and router. That did it.
The laptops now obtain their IP from the router e.g. 192.168.2.nnn
