Turning Off "Wireless" on a Wireless Router

I do not currently have a router but it's just about time to get on that boat. Neither of the computers I will be connecting have wireless cards in them, only wired.
If I buy a wireless router, can I disable the wireless capability so I don't have to worry about drive-by hackers and neighbourhood kids jacking my connection? Please remember that I do not currently have a router and I therefore know very little about networking. I'd basically like to just wire the computers to the router and disable the wireless aspect until I need it (brother, mother, friends have laptops so when they're here I would like to be able to turn it back on).
The router I'm looking at is just your basic Linksys Wireless G router and of course I'd like to be able to share the 1 printer and scanner I have in the house.

Every wifi router I've encountered allows this. Dozens so far...

There are also various security features that can be enabled. WEP (encription), MAC Filters (Only allow computers with a matching MAC address access to the router), Stealth (don't project the network name, you must type it in the computer and if it matches it will connect). With Stealth you should choose a obscure name for your network so that it can't be easily guessed.
