Can't turn on my wireless

I have a 1 week old Sony Vaio running Windows XP Professional. I accessed the wireless network at work, but now all of a sudden can't turn my wireless on. The Bluetooth is still working, and the Intel PROset/Wireless keeps telling me to turn the wireless hardware switch on (already on). I have noticed that when I turn the switch on, instead of one "dingle-dongle", I hear multiples (sometimes two or three). Is this faulry hardware or software?

Go check your network connections.

(In WinXP) Go to start>network conections. Find your wireless conection, right click on it, and select "view avaliable wireless networks." Refresh the list if you can't see any networks. If you still can't see any, a call to Sony may indeed be necisary.
