Can't See My Wireless Network Connection...

I have a Linksys 4-Port Router (BEFW 11S4-V2) connected to my Desktop PC (WinXP). I just bought a Toshiba A35 Notebook (WinXP) and have been trying to get them connected to a wireless network. So, I monkeyed around with "My Network Places", running wizards, etc. Now, when I go to My Network, my wireless network doesn't even show up. Nor do the tiny TV tubes down on the bottom tray that show the connection. But, I'm connected with both PC's (desktop and notebook). How can I get the wireless network to show up as part of my hardware? How can I learn how to connect a wireless network so I can see files, drives and applications from my notebook to my desktop?

On your Local Area Connection Status properties page, there is a check box to "show icon in notification area when connected".

Network connections are not normally displayed as hardware. Not sure where you are going with this.

XPs built in firewall can close down this network feature. Try diabling ICF.

How do I go about disabling XP's ICF? Or maybe it would be better if I knew what ICF is. I hate to be a pain, but as you've probably guessed, I'm a non-teckie.

ICF= Internet Connection Firewall

a built in feature of XP located on the Advanced tab of your Local Area Connection properties page.
