wirelless network setup question

To anyone who can help,
I have recently tried to setup a wireless network for my PC and laptop. The existing hardware might be my problem, but I'm not sure. I have a DSL router with only USB connections, a wireless router with only RJ45, and a wireless card for the laptop. The laptop is completely setup and finds other networks successfully. Because the DSL router has only USB connections it is hardwired to the PC. The wireless router is off the PC also, in an attempt to share the internet connection. Both connections at the PC are bridged. My laptop found the connection and was able to connect to the internet. The problem is that only one PC can be on the net at the same time. IP address conflict? Can someone explain if this is possible to get both running and how?

You'll need to get a DSL modem with ethernet to make this easy. I offer no help with ICS setups.

Ask your ISP for.....

an ethernet equipped DSL modem. It's the easiest solution to this situation.

Other solutions include:

1) replace the router with one that supports USB
2) take the router out of gateway mode and use ICS on the hardwired PC to serve as the DHCP server for the rest of the network.

Again, a modem change is easiest.

I found one of those USB DSL/Cable modem devices years ago but it quickly feel out of the market due to woes ranging from it not working with the variety of USB modems to its price being over 300 bucks.

Can you share where you found this model?

It is not compatible with my modem, seems UK only. Also Emblazened on the top is that it's been superceded. Looks like another dead end technology.

Dead End

Thanks for the help guys. I will be in Germany for another year and think I'll stay hardwired to the DSL modem for now. The thought of purchasing new H/W is out of the question.

This model is native to Deutsche Telekom in Germany. It is about 3 years old. I picked it up when USB2.0 came out. At the time I had no desire for a network.
