Mounting Laptop as external storage?

I have a Humax Freesat box, with a USB port on the front. I want to move the recorded files to my laptop (HP Folio 13 running Pinguy 12.04, based on Ubuntu). Is there any way that, with a male/male USB cable, I can make the Freesat box think that my laptop is external storage and allow me to move files on to it?

I'd use an external disk as an intermediate medium. That's proven technology, so to say.

If you research USB Client, Host, OTG and then research your laptop you discover laptops and PCs don't do that.
