so i know the data and parity are striped between X number of HDD's , but my question is when a HDD Fails and it rebuilds from Parity, I know this and it uses the XOR mathematical fuction to do this , so when you stick a replacement HDD, since there is no data or parity on this drive , and we know the parity bit has this information, in its table with this fuction , so it looks at the parity from the other HDD's to calculate the XOR ,to rebuild the data , but what im wanting to known since the data is striped accross these drives and we have parity, when the parity is recalcualted to build this replacement HDD does it point to the striped data that is accros these drives to retrieve the data that was missing from or failed one. since the parity is a table/XOR Function that tells us how to retrieve the data.
