Strange problem with compact flash cards

I recently bought about 30 4 megabyte compact flash cards. Yes, that is correct, 4 megabyte. They are to give out as samples to be used in Windows Mobile pocket pcs.

I tried to format some of them to fat32 in my HP pavilion running XP. The only choices that were listed were ex Fat and Fat (which I understand to be Fat 16).

Before or after formatting, these cards freeze the pocket pcs when I try to insert them.

Can anyone explain the strange behavior - why the cards cannot be formatted as fat32 or why they freeze the pocket pcs?

The host pocket pc is the issue here. Years ago we learned to format these on the pocket pc and not a PC.

You are only repeating an old lesson.
