Maxtor 500GB external storage--- bad quality

Some of you have likely had good experience with Maxtor,however, my experience has not been to good. Best Buy and Geek Squad set up my system (whole house/multiple zones and systems). The PC and external drive were to help support SONOS , ITunes and other playlists via room to room keypads. This method allows me to drive speakers/sound fairly independently. Sounds good! However , this audio digital jutebox died only after 6 months of use.....albeit, very low usage,because of the dead Maxtor external. We have since replaced it, but Warning---- check out hardware reliability, the warranty and ,of course, back up (?? with another external??) on critical day to day use systems. At first BB said , we can sell you a replacement, but later just gave me my replacement---kudos to them for their follow up even though it was not their issue.
