It is not, Its an adaptec 2410sa, I shot pictures of the card and the update process.

If you notice on the memory chips, there is a sticker, it says IBM RC

Maybe the OEM is IBM

I couldnt find a firmware there, I even have a firmware dump made with the utility

Yes, it doesnt match, but I boughth it from that guy, I will try a 2007 update from IBM and see what happends, I want to update it because it gives me an error when it gets to the 137gb limit, (48 bit lba),

Thanks to the posts here i realized that i was in the same situation. I was able to run the firmware update with the ibm serveRAID support CD. I used the image found on this link, and it worked properly:

However, some further digging got me to the most updated version:

For those concerned the Adaptec 2410SA that is the ibm oem version falls under the category "IBM ServeRAID-7t SATA controller". Just download the .iso and burn, restart the server and you should be prompted to update the firmware on the card.

I updated the controller booting the v.7.12 (first .iso link), the v9.00 (second .iso link) have no boot feature, so update was impossible with the v9, used v7.12 instead.

I updated my card from previous version (v4.1-0 Build 7235) to v4.1-0 (8195)

I am using Clarkconnect 3.2 linux distro with "Red Hat/Adaptec aacraid driver (1.1.2-lk2 Nov 22 2005)" driver, with the older firmware (build 7235) it fails when lots of HDD activity (I/O error), now i am trying stressing the HDD with large files and it seems to be stable(as far now), but i will post some test updates later.

After days of testing with the new firmware, it got stable!!

IMO the Adaptec OEM program has failed here, by shipping cards with Adaptec written all over, using Adaptec drivers, and Adaptec boot software, boot messages. Adaptec diagnostics detects it as an Adaptec card. Obviously one thinks it is an Adaptec card. But Adaptec do not support it! And Adaptec Storage Manager does not detect this card and gives an error message "Update to the latest Driver", despite it is running on the latest Adaptec driver. At least with the original BIOS.

Be sure your hardware is on the Microsoft HCL for that OS. Some may think otherwise but unless Adaptec offers a fix I change the board.

Has anyone tried to force a firmware of another brand ? Since cards are quite the same, it should be possible to flash IBM or Hitachi cards with standard firmware from Adaptec. To bypass flasher control, it may be possible to modify the offset where the OEM number is set, I guess.

Thanks for the info. We had an Adaptec 2200S variant that would not work with Windows 7 for anything. Turned out the BIOS version and Vendor ID were not stock OEM. Force flashing to the stock firmware worked like a charm.

Success! Started from scratch again for the 3rd time. Re-initialized the drives to wipe, set up a new Raid 5 config with the clear option, it took a while but the o/s loaded nicely afterwards. All good so far with the new install. Nice to know that you can circumvent the OEM Branded bios and use stock firmware on a nice piece of hardware. I have an ARC-3405 SAS controller on another server here that I purchased used as well. Firmware update no problem with stock Adaptec .roms and running very well.
