I'm configuring a desktop on the retailers website and am wondering if I should get:

Intel® Core™i7-2700K processor, quad 3.50GHz cores, 8MB Cache
with
8GB DDR3-1333 Dual Channel Memory (4 x 2048mb)


or


Intel® Core™i5-2500K processor, quad 3.30GHz cores, Hyperclocked to 4.3GHz
with
16GB DDR3-1333 Dual Channel Memory (4 x 4gb)




The latter option also saves me enough to get a better heatsink and fan, and video cooling.

I intend to use this for browsing and other normal activities, as well as occasional movies and gaming. Which configuration would be better?

How serious are you into this?

If your a low or mid range gamer the I5.....2x4GB ram.....stock hsf.......no overclocking.....should work fine.

If your a high end gamer then you max out everything.........big bucks!!!!!!

8GB is quite nice for today's machines. You can change it later if you think it will make a difference. Changing the CPU? Rarely done.
