all-in-one desktop

I want to buy a windows7 desktop.
I find the all-in-one type attractive, but some say that they are more prone to fail than the conventional box + monitor type.
Does anybody know whether tis is true?
I will greatly appreciate any information about this topic.

My take on these AIO PCs are basically they're cheaper for a co. to put together, etc.. Overall, they use some parts that laptops use and they present a decent design and smaller "footprint". That said, should an AIO break, they're more complex to repair and parts may not be as easy to get than typical desktop, as in more generic. Also, the weakest of a laptop in limited upgrade path pretty much keeps you as is other than easier ram upgrades, etc.. If the monitor breaks, you need to replace with exact same part plus teardown, not just go get another monitor and be done with it. So, you see the somewhat repair nightmares that may arise and if you're capable, then all the worse. At the same time if it remains working, these are problems you shouldn't have to deal with, cross-fingers.

Don't know there are any reliability stats on ALL-IN-ONES

The idea makes sense for some ... but sometimes it's not so practical as it may first appear.

On the upside....they don't take up much space.

On the other hand, they've got no room to expand by adding another hard drive or upgrading the video card. Parts for fixing or upgrading slimline PCs must be a piece of cake compared to an ALL-IN-ONES. Just too many limitations/restrictions with ALL-IN-ONES and SLIMLINE PCs to be practical for me.

If it fills your need....get it. Just be aware of the limitations....expandability, heat dissipation, parts replacement, etc.,
