Desktops forum: What's best for 3ds Max rendering and visualization?

At the office we have very few desktops today. It doesn't mean I'd want to give up my desktop rendering monster but if I had to choose, "laptop."

at the office we have rendering monsters also from BOXX. I would choose the CyberPowerPC over the ASUS because it's way more powerful. And I dont mind buying a light-thin laptop for portability.

But most of the reviews out there are against CyberPower. They say it's cheaply built and come with a lot of problems and faults. Do you happen to know anything about this brand?

Appears to find the usual clone maker. That is, they don't do much other than source parts, bolt it together, some nice graphics stickers and supply it ready to use.

so you think spending $1500 on ASUS Laptop is more safe & reliable than $1500 on CyberPowerPC Desktop?

I'm new to the PC clone world; that's why i'm so confused!

These are high end machines and they run Windows. I can only guess you are expecting trouble free operation. In my world, I'm seeing new folk (late teen, 20's) that didn't live through all this and expecting all the problems to have been worked out. Sadly that's nothing but marketing.

If you want reliable, that would exclude Windows in my experience as you see the machine reboot by remote control from Redmond.

I hope you meant the product quality as brand quality is something I rarely want.

yeah, i look for reliable product. I understand there are always issues with high-end technology. However, i have to stick to Windows since most of 3d modeling and BIM software are windows-based, and they don't run on other platforms.

My son had the prior gen i7 Asus ROG 1080p 15 inch laptop and it's holding up pretty well.

HOWEVER he did wear out one keyboard (90 bucks to replace it. yes I did the work myself, still 90 bucks.)

HOWEVER I do the canned air cleaning every month or two. I wonder how many would know how important this is.

I think I made up my mind and will go with the ASUS G75. I don't want to risk $1500 in a crappy-assembled desktop even though it is faster.

Some canned air. Every 1st of the month power off, and give the vents a short blast to slow down the buildup of dust and such. You can avoid most of the issues with simple canned air.

You don't have to do it monthly but if you forget, you'll get it next month.

I used to write every 6 months but no one remembered. Since it is so cheap, and repairs are so expensive I changed this to monthly.
