im looking to add additional Ram to my pc, i currently have 3gb ram installed but wishing to add a further 4gb, my max is 8gb in total.before jumping into this i have been doing a little googling and so far i have read that it is best not to mix different brands of ram cards ??? i have ran crucial uk`s system scanner and it has suggested a list of comaptible devices and the option of adding a further 4gb as i have 4 slots and only 2 are in use this would add to my exsisting 3gb.....so to all you members is it best to replace all my ram cards with the same brand to bring me up to 7gb or would i get away with adding the further 4gb ?????

Is to avoid any unpleasant surprises. It does not mean we can't mix but for the average computer owner it would be a lot to ask them to check into all the parameters that RAM sticks have. For now I suggest you look at crucial.com for the 8GB kit and see if that's in the cards.
