Upgrade or buy a new computer?

Hello,

I have a Compaq Presario SR5710Y. My OS is windows XP (due to the fact that my parents crash my computer, I had to resort to XP). My friend is a wiz with computers, but I haven't been able to get a hold of him to help me with my computer. It has 2.87GB of Ram, AMD Dual Core Processor 4450e and 2.31 GHz. I play a lot of games on my computer, and I wasn't sure whether to upgrade or buy a new computer. For WoW I've been hearing I need more Ram, graphics card, PSU, but I'm not sure what to do. My friend said he could upgrade my computer for about $600. Please help!

Games are largely dependent on GPU power so

if you could find a video card that works with your system using the stock 250W PSU....that could help significantly. You can check out some GPUs here.....

If you pick a more powerful GPU....you'd probably have to bump up your PSU too . . . . adding another $50 to $100 or so. The good thing is those components would usually be transferable to another PC should you decide to buy or build another PC.

I think Buying a new PC is better than Upgrading it.

I would go with the new computer , remember that all electronics have a definite lifespan!
