Gaming Desktop?

So I have decided that it is best to buy a gaming desktop. I am entering the pc gaming scene, but I decided I want to go all out (cool headsets, strong games, ridiculous play time etc.). That being said, I have been told that building your own desktop is the way to go for gaming. However, I'll be honest, i don't know a single thing :P and all these websites have so many options its insane. I guess my guidelines are a cool setup, cool casing (lights, see through, etc.), being able to run all games such as BF3 on high settings. I'd like to have advanced keyboard and mouse, and a decent monitor, not top of the line, but decent to look at. Does anyone have any suggestions? What website to design a computer off of? What company and experience with this company? I am looking to spend no more than $1800 on the entire computer set up. Someone help me from making a $2k mistake sad

There are a few good companies to choose from. My primary recommendation is to stay away from places like I buypower and cyberpowerpc. Might save you a buck at the start but from everything I've seen it will be a terrible experience. There is a somewhat new company that seems to be doing really well which I recommend checking out. www.elifepc.com

I've been following them on facebook since I discovered them while watching some streams on Twitch tv. I've never seen such loyal fans which is always a good sign. That and they say they will beat the price of any competitor. I would simply contact them and tell them your budget and what you need. They are sure to set you on the right path.

For other companies. I've always heard good things about maingear and originpc, both pretty espensive though.
