No manual eject on my CD Drive?

I have an Asus GC 5275 and I'm trying to get the CD drive to work again. It's jammed shut.

There's no manual eject on the outside, and I've heard people say there's one that need the side panel taken off. is this true? I just want to reformat my PC.

a very small hole in the front of the drive? A hole that will permit a straightened out paper clip to enter? If there is a flip-down door in front of the drive, open it up and look at the tray face.

I agree with Coryphaeus, that most CD makers provide a manual eject hole for direct access to mechanism. In your case, gently ease down the case frt. CD panel door to access the CD itself. Look for a small pinhole that a straighten paperclip will fit through. Then push against mech. to start the ejection. The CD drive need NOT be active or PC-ON state.

Upon close inspection, verify if the CD drive itself is bad, then replace. If not, it maybe the case frt. door causing a problem. Lube or make sure its as free to open as possible, springs missing or broken, etc..

And there's just the eject button that's built in to my case so it can function. I'll try dismantling my PC and see if I can get to the front of the face of the disc tray and find out.

Since I haven't worked on all PCs in the universe, I have handled many. In most cases, the case frt. door panel, flips down as the CD tray pushes it open. As I stated you can lift the door panel down and inspect the CD own frt. cover(tray door) for that small hole. Also, some CD drives have a seal around the door which can become sticky or provide a compressed condition that further seats the tray which becomes harder to open. The CD button is usually nothing more than a pass-through plastic lever that contacts the CD own button. Once you remove the case full frt. panel, it will become clearer. FYI- handle with care upon tear down -----Willy happy
