Blu Ray writing capable PC

It's been a while since I've been in the PC market so I'm outta the loop. Could someone recommend a desktop PC that can read and write Blu Ray DVD's?

I have a video camera with 1080P capability and would like to burn to DVD's but my desktop is way old and not able.

Not finding a PC with built in Blu Ray burner

I've been surfing and looking for a PC with a built in Blu Ray burner and cant find any. I get results all day long advertising the internal byrner itself but no PC with it built in. This cant be, I mean point and shoot cameras are recording 1080P and PC's dont come with the Blu ray burner already installed?

Did you check Alienware? You could more than likely get one through them. Another way, buy a desktop install as secondary or retrofit drive.

Make sure the video card will support Blue-ray & then buy a Internal Blue-ray player. You can pick one up for $100. The blank Blue-ray disc are about $5 on the internet.

BD recordable media is still pricey and I find players didn't play what I created (PS3 being a notable exception.)

So I researched how to put HD content on DVD which helped a lot. The only downside is the player has to be fairly new but it saved my wallet.

I think the biggest limitation to installing a BD recordable drive is my power supply. What is the minimum supply needed? Does anybody do this with their PC? Burn BD's?

CD/DVD and BD recorders draw little power compared to say a video 3D card.

I would never expect an issue with power.

IMO, the BD thing just didn't take off as it may have been suspected. While, its popular for the media when used in conjuction with TV or HD media, the PC side just didn't go to levels one would think. However, the fix is easy, just buy a newer PC and then install a BD player/burner and use the new s/w supplied. If you're old PC is capable, it maybe then look into that as well. I would thinj the overall effect is the ida that it will work, as it needs only the power any old CD drive needed. I wish I could delve more inot it, but overall I don't many problems with BD installs. Of course, if you old PC is that old, then get the new system and then upgrade the BD side of it. Also, some vendors could supply that if you "custom" order into it. Only a suggestion but yes do supply at least look int the OEM vendors websites.
