HP recovery partition is full

When I start my computer I get a balloon message saying that my recovery partition D is nearing full.Then it asks me to clean it up to restore more space. I click OK. It goes through the motions of cleaning it up. ....empties the recycle bin and so on, but it really does nothing. Nothing is in the recycle bin on D. There are no unnecessary files to clean up. But the message goes away after I click OK to clean it up. That is.....until I start up again. The capacity of Recovery drive D is 8GB. When I check it , it has 7.96 used. Should I worry about this message? It is a nuisance and I would rather have it not appear. Other than that my computer runs great.

Does the "D" partition

show up in My Computer, If so, double click it and see if it will open, Post back on the results.

Yes, my recovery partition shows up on "MY Computer" and there is a warning that any alteration of the drive could prevent any recovery later. Why is that? I have an external hard disk that I have everything backed up on. I also have a set of back up discs I made when I first got the computer (about a year and a half ago.) If I turn off the warning message through my registry as suggested, what if the drive gets full? Will it matter?

Most seem to point to hiding that drive (which stops the message) or doing the registry item as noted.

Since you have the Restore CDs I can't think why not to turn this off.

Sorry, you'll have to ask HP for more detail.

Check your folders on the recovery partition.

Go to My Computer, D-drive, make sure there is only one folder in the D-drive, the one named "Recovery" and nothing else. If there is any other folders, move them to the C-drive, and remember that location
for the application that places files in that folder.
The HP I use to have was storing temporary song lists on the D-drive until I corrected that. Hope that helps.
