how to check Hard disk & RAM type

I have Hyundai 256Mb DDR RAM & Samsung 40Gb Hard Disk @7200rpm installed on my PC(Win 2000 Pro).
But from where can I know that RAM is really "DDR" & Hard Disk speed "7200rpm" and not any other.
I am only getting info that RAM is 256Mb & HardDisk 40Gb but not their types or speed

While there are test softwares, the real test is to visually inspect the parts and look up the specification sheets on the internet.

But since DDR sticks don't plug into SDRAM slots, it would be a tough feat to shortchange the user! The hard disk make/model would be best known and we can answer such.

In spite of my predilection to visual inventory of a machine, here's a couple test tools. The first may reveal the memory type/speed, but then again it may raise more questions than it answers.
