Wireless Connection in Apartment Buildings

I have a Dell Laptop and am running Windows XP Pro, using EarthLink as my ISP, with a cable modem connection through Time Warner Cable. I also have an internal wireless card installed in my computer and have been using it to try to maintain a connection to the three Linksys Routers with Speedbooster I've owned (or had Linksys replace) in the last 6 months. Unfortunately, I frequently lose my own network connection and end up connecting to other people's networks in my apartment building. Linksys has told me that there is really nothing else they can do to help me, and it has to do with the number of other networks in close proximity to my laptop. I do not have this problem when I travel outside the range of my apartment building, so I am assuming it is a network problem and not a problem with my laptop. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can stay connected to my network while maintaining a strong and fast signal, or is it a lost cause because I live in a high-rise apartment building?
