How to setup QOS rules with Netgear router running off FiOs?

I'll start with the current setup: I am currently using Verizon FiOS on their 300/65 plan. I was using their Actiontec MI424 WR router for wireless but was unhappy with its performance so ended up purchasing a Netgear N600 dualband router. I turned off the wireless on the Actiontec so it is being used strictly as a modem and plugged in the Netgear N600 wireless router from LAN to LAN with the Actiontec. Everything is still working but I want to maximize internet speeds where necessary and lower for some items that do not need higher speeds. This issue has come about because I recently purchased a new home theater receiver that I have plugged into the network via the Netgear powerline 500 nano wall plugs. I also have an Xbox that I would like to connect to the network via the powerline plugs but the Xbox will obviously require higher internet speeds than the receiver. I know everything will require static ip's so that's not an issue but my question's are will QOS rules help maximize speeds? And if they do, should they be applied to the Actiontec or Netgear and what should they look like?
I appreciate anyone's help with this matter.
