I have a Belkin N450 router, it worked great for a while then all of a sudden the light would change from blue to amber and you would have to power cycle it to get it to work again.
Every once in a while it would somewhat reset itself to factory defaults, losing my security key, password for the settings.....BUT even with the factory security key it would say windows could not connect to it, not even giving me a chance to put in the security key. You would either have to make a guest access or restore it to factory defaults in the settings.
It's gotten to where we have to power cycle it so many times each day. And the resetting itself back to belkin.3cf (they default id) with windows unable to connect to it happens more frequently, the other day it happened 4 times, 3 of them within 15 minutes.
I've tried changing all sorts of settings, I've set it to reset itself every night, i've turned the protection mode on, i've changed channels, i've changed SSIDs, I've unplugged both it and the modem then plugged the modem in, waited for it to connect fully then the router, there is no firmware update......all of this BEFORE I tried contacting Belkin support.
And they are of no help at all. I tried calling first and explained what happened, he told me to unplug it and replug it. I said no, I already know that will work but not only for a little while. He claimed it was a process he HAD to go through and so it went nowhere.
Are all of Belkin's routers like this? Is there anything I can do?
