Can't find the IP address of my wireless access point - Help

Okay, this is weird. I have a wireless access point. It works fine, broadcasts the SSID etc. Problem is I can't determine the IP address. I go into my router (the WAP has a wired connection to it) and look at all the devices connected to it and the WAP doesn't show.

I've methodically typed the IP address of every ethernet connected device and I can't get to the configuration screen.

This is so simple yet it's driving me crazy. Can anyone help?

Sorry but a WAP does not need an IP. Many do but it could be at a non LAN address and you bet I put WAPs at non-LAN addresses to get the rifraff out.

It's an old one. I am pretty sure it does take an IP address because that's how you get on to run the admin stuff like SSID name and WEP/WAP etc. The manual is HERE

Well, I fixed it. I did a factory reset while the ethernet cable was disconnected and then plugged it in and then I could see it at 192.168.1.6 and was able to go to that address and run the admin program,

I did a factory reset and then plugged the ethernet cable back in and my router identified it at 192.168.1.6. You do need the IP address to be able to run the Admin program to set SSID and security passwords.

But you can set it to a non-LAN address and your everyday IT staff can't find it. It's not very advanced skills to access a 10.1.1.2 address on a 10.0.0.x netmask 255.255.255.0 LAN but I find that most IT staffers say it can't be done.

This way you don't directly expose this to the LAN and whoever is on the LAN.
