Wireless Internet forum: Cheapest way to get Mobile Internet Radio

Such costs are all over the map. When we were overseas in South Korea you could get a MiFi (mobile wifi) device for cheap and a good price for the monthly fees. You'll have to shop in your town to see what these cost and then you should be able to pick your solution.

It would be too much to ask for a world wide answer with countries and states as well coverage in this small space.

Some new members forget to add details that help narrow the question down.

My apologies for not providing more details.

What I am looking for is essentially an inexpensive tablet with 3G, 4G, or LTE. The ipad mini with LTE would be perfect, but it's much more expensive than I was hoping to spend (for the device itself). I am not as concerned with the cost of the data plan...all I care about is that the device has the ability to have one.

I'm guessing here that you have a price point. That's the easy thing to guess.

But if I step back I think you want to be able to have it later but not buy it now. Those cellular features are not cheap so they won't include it for free (in tablets.) But let's be clear on something. Some folk are confusing tablets with PCs. That is, they think we can add it later like we can with many PCs. That would again drive the cost up and would push the tablet cost to more than one that had the cellular modem preinstalled.

I see most folk will get a tablet with wifi and that's it. I think I can use my cell phone as a hot spot in a pinch.

Thank you for such prompt responses.

I am specifically looking for an inexpensive replacement for my current 1st gen ipad w/3G.

The "all I care about..." comment was referring to the new device must be capable of receiving mobile data (similar to my current ipad).

From the research I've done, it appears the new Google Nexus 7 is going to be the least expensive option ($299). The purpose of my original post was to find out if there were any less expensive options.

It's very nice but we can use hotspots and cell phones as hot spots so we save a few bucks. If there's something specific I can answer about the Nexus 7 I can try.

I want to say that it's as close as it gets to a full Apple/PC for web browsing. Flash and more works now. A web site showed me how to install Firefox Beta and Flash without rooting.
