How can I create one network in main house and barn?

1. A powerline bridge and a router as a WAP in the barn?
2. Moving your existing router to a window that that barn can see?

The barn with upstairs apartment and downstairs office is on a separate electrical panel from the main house. I do have a cisco wireless router in the house and get a very weak signal in the barn apartment, one that is too weak for online school, video etc.

I do think it may be worth upgrading the router to a better technology such as the Netgear N600 dual band router but wanted to post to these forums first.

That panel has to be on the other side of a transformer. As to the router in the window I could try that and see if another router works better. But location matters. I've lost count of folk that will not put the router in the best spot.

After that is done you can put a gaming bridge or similar in a window of the barn to pick up the wifi and then a router as a WAP to re-broadcast the LAN. All basic stuff.
