Sorry if this is in the wrong section but i live in college and my dick head roommates NEVER stop downloading porn or movies or w/e!

i just want to give us all = internet access or even take the majority of it everyone once in awhile.. my friends friend in another room does it with some program.. I'm a tottal nub at hacking anything or w.e you want to call it.. but if theres an easy to use program to do it i would be extremely happy.

btw im in china.. if that matters at all.

Router feature

You must be the one in control of the router which is hard to say if you do since you posted this under wireless.

Some routers have the ability to run quality of service and favor some users over others. This is only on some of the more advanced routers. You can also run dd-wrt firmware on your router if you have the correct model. This firmware also has the ability to favor some users of others. It is somewhat limited and does not always accomplish what it says.

If you do not control the router or if the router does not have a feature to limit users there is little you can do.

The only way to really do this is to place a device between the router and the ISP that can limit traffic. There are free versions of firewall/IDP software that run on a linux platform but this is not trivial to configure and of course you must have a extra machine you can use for this purpose.

i know i can do it and it should be easy if i can find the program,,, there was a chinese guy living with me who was really stupid, he got the program from a friend. All he had to do was turn it on and choose who he wanted to limit.

im sure if i could just find the same thing he was using but in english i could do the same thing.

Sorry there is no magic program that you can run on one users PC that will affect another users PC.

The networks are designed to prevent this. If all it takes is to load some software and then I can always make myself go faster than everyone else.... ya sure that wouldn't be abused.

The only thing that can favor one user over another is some network device like your router. You would need to load the special program on that device.

yup your right, i talked to the chinese guy today and it turns out he is stupid lol..


it wasn't just a program that magically did awesome! it took his friend 5 days to configure his internet card or some ****!

amazing stuff i must say, hes doing it to mine soon!

I know this is a little late, but you would need a managed switch that allows manage each port. They are on the expensive side. But a cheaper route might be setting up a firewall on the router that blocks those sites your roommate is downloading from to free up your bandwidth.
