DHCP is enabled, so your printer should be acquiring its own IP address. You may need to tell more about what happens to your computer when you lose wireless connectivity. Do you see any error messages when this happens? You may want to check the network settings in the control panel for any errors.

Also, check the Netgear website for any firmware upgrades that might be available for your router.

Thank you. I get no messages or warnings when this happens. As a matter of fact the internet page will still appear on the screen as if nothing has happened. The only way I know I'm disconnected is if I try to go forward by searching or clicking on something on the page (then nothing happens). There is still a connection to the internet though if I hardwire my desktop directly to the modem.

I have called Netgear and they find nothing wrong with my router. I tried reinstalling the printer drivers as well.

I did notice that when I ran the Network Config Page the other day that the IP address (under IPv4) is different (192.168.1.4 instead of 192.168.1.5 from yesterday).

I will try to unhook everything and start from scratch, in case there may be a hardware problem. I cannot do this until tonight or tomorrow morning.

I powered down everything and disconnected and reconnected then powered up and still not luck! Any more suggestions? Thank you!

I would suggest trying to print something to invoke a lost connection, then go to the Network and Sharing Center on your PC. You will see either a red X between your PC and router or router and internet. You should be able to click on that red X to allow Windows to diagnose your connection. It may give you a clue as to what is going on. If you don't see the red X, there is a "Troubleshoot problems" section at the bottom of that window. If you don't get anywhere with that, post the results/messages here. Unfortunately without some kind of message it will be difficult to come up with any more specific ideas.

You can also try running ipconfig from a command prompt. You should see a 192.168.1.xx address for your wireless adapter. Also try to ping your printer's IP address and see if the printer replies to it.

Thank you for the info, but I totally have no idea (even after reading all including two links) how to fix this problem. I made the mistake of having a tech come out to the house and charged me to tell me he did not know what was wrong (duh!). Unfortunately, I need step-by-step instructions. Thanks anyway.
