A Decent Mobile Hotspot such As MIFI by Novatel or Samsung

Hello- I need a replacement for my Verizon MIFI22003G since it has not worked for nearly a year with a lot of tech support. I am not sure if I am staying with Verizon since I am tired of their BS. The Novatel MIFI 3G/4G at Sprint , Verizon does not get good marks, and either does the Samsung Hotspot. Does anybody know if a 4G Hotspot gets good reviews or does anybody have one that works well? they are supposed to allow up to 5 connections at once. any suggestions would be appreciated. I know the iPhone can be used as a mobile hotspot but I need a replacement for what I used to have as my main internet connection. it died and I can't afford Xfinity/Comcast so I thought I would try one of the MIFI 3G/4G by Novatel devices. Samsung has one out and not sure about anybody else. I have heard Clears is horrible so I will stay away from there since the forums I have read with anybody that has Clear is having a horrible experience.

Sorry about your post in the forum that is rarely visited. It was well meaning advice and you took offense. I can't tell you how to format your posts but posting one single paragraph like that may have folk walking by without reading it. Your choice on that and sorry if such advice offends you.

First, all those wifi from cellular hotspots are OK things today. But some demand 100% uptime and not one of the cellular networks seem to do that. That is, I see most of these work most of the time. It seems to upset folk that try to play some online game and then discover their get a network boot about every 2 hours.

Some might call that a "horrible experience" while I call it a limit of the technology today.

Clear is the same network is sprint. So unless you mean customer service you will see similar results with both vendors. Rumor has it that sprint & clear will not have the same networks when they roll out LTE but for wimax its the same.

The key to selection of mobile devices is much less to do with the actual device and more to do with how much coverage you have. You need to first find the vendor that has the strongest true 4G coverage in your area and go with them. Does little good to have the best hardware device and find that you get very limited coverage.

After you select a provider then look for opinions on specific devices from that vendor.

Thanks for the help. I am actually with Verizon and have some rebate they call "New Every Two," which I guess they do not do anymore but are honoring past New Every Two rebates like mine. I would like to have a connection when I am on the road for my MacBook Pro. I have not used a smartphone yet, so I have a lot to learn. I am trying not to let it get me down, but rather, ask questions and just purchase a decent smartphone. This is what I am on the hunt for now. I just really need to do it. so it sounds like these mobile hot spot devices are not that popular. From what I hear most of the smartphones will give one a hot spot, but like I said, I am not sure how that works, and when I call Verizon how to communicate my needs with them so I am not taken for a ride.
