Wireless Internet forum: My HP Compaq Notebook Cannot to the Internet Through Wireles

is what enables laptops to communicate wirelessly (and desktops). In XP (I don't own Vista) it's located in Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Services and Applications, Services. Scroll down (on the right) and find Wireless Zero and enable it. XP also has a Network Setup Wizard, not sure about Vista. If so and you can find it, run it.

You can probably do a Windows Help and search for Wireless Zero.

A web (Google) search gave me this site: http://www.inf.aber.ac.uk/advisory/faq/965 that detailed out how to configure the Wireless Zero.

I went thru the detailed steps for Vista but still did not work for me. So, as it is now I am still stuck.

If anyone out there can assist I would highly appreciate it.

It is set to WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK

There is no WPA2 AES in the setup.

As to PSK/AES/TKIP that's only three options. Go with what works. Also, be sure the SSID is not hidden, the channel is not EU and the option for MAC FILTERS is "off."

These posts bring up a good point. Look at the troubles folk have and ask if it's time for a better system?

Also, does your systems have the push button connect feature? Did you try it?

I have not been successful in all actions suggested.

I feel that I might not have presented my case well. So here is a revised version of my case:

I have an HP Compaq Presario A900 Notebook PC which I have had for a little over two years now.

OS on it is Windows Vista Home Premium SP2,
Internet Browser on it is IE8.

I initially had a Huawei SmartAX MT882a ASDL (Broadband) modem supplied by my ISP, Vodafone, by which I did my internet browsing until two days ago (10/20/2011) when I obtained their upgraded Broadband Wireless Router - EchoLife HG520c. My ISP technicians spent a considerable time configuring the system only succeeding in having this notebook connected to the internet through the supplied cable. Internet connection by wireless on this notebook has been fruitless, even though it connects to the router but not beyond that (See snapshot here: http://gedochin.com/Wireless%20Network.jpg).

What is interesting is that I also have another notebook (Sony Vaio) with Windows 7 Home Premium which immediately connected to the internet when it was turned on.

So, whatever is wrong with the Compaq, I do not know and would like someone to assist me in resolving this problem.

When Norton and maybe other protection software expires, complaints like yours follow.

Fix? Your choice of paying up or removing said apps.

HOWEVER it appears that you have not tried the suggestions so far. Since these have not been done I'll keep them in mind.
