connect TWO wireless router together

hello i use a (2wire) router as my first router,
but since my dad wants to use the wireless signal from far away
i bought an another router (NETGEAR), but after i connected the router (netgear)on the (2wire), the internet it's not working on the (netgear) router!

* i have the signal from the (netgear) but not connectivity!
* i tried to disable the DHCP (but didn't work)

anyone have any idea?
