Go to a computer store and look at what's on the shelf. Get one.

I think that you have to configure the D-Link to tell it what you want and how you want to use it.

With a little bit of knowledge and help from the D-Link forum, I got my $200 DGL-4500 tweaked and it was a phenomenal router. It will work with the setup wizard, but to extract what it was designed for takes a little time and effort....and configuring. Luckily, the D-Link forum guys are very knowledgeable and and quick to help out.

I buy and tweak routers for a hobby. I'm a novice at it, but it's fun and satisfies my tinkering itch. I agree that all name brands are good (Netgear, D-Link, Cisco/Linksys, Belkin, Buffalo, etc.). I've had success with all of them. Every now and then you'll get a router that doesn't like your wireless card or vice versa and sometimes not even a firmware update or settings tweak will help. So, sometimes a router just won't work for your devices. However, I see this more with older routers and not so much with the latest and greatest.

I run all wireless N devices (except for our Wii) and most of those are on the 2.4GHz band. One XBOX and 2 laptops will run 5GHz band and I take advantage of that because no one our neighborhood is using 5GHz (I checked with inSSIDer).
