my gateway laptop w/ vista won't connect to wireless

I have a 6 mo.old Gateway w/amd64/ vista. Model# mt6451 I have a Rangemax wpn824v2 wireless router and it is bridged with my puter but the internet will not connect. Can someone help me solve this problem?

Why the bridge?

Most clients don't need to bridge.
