Netzero rerouting me through AT&T @ 10 cents per minute?

Started using Netzero last part of 2002 and for 16 months no problem. Just get a phone bill and included is a sheet from AT&T all for having used a local/intown access number and totaled approximately $240 for a three day period for Netzero access. Netzero is giving me the canned responses and stating that they are not responsible for "long distance" charges etc but these are local calls for here intown and a number I had previously used for 16 months prior. I have not moved and it is still considered a local call. Anyone have any advice as to what to do in this situation or gone through it personally as well? According to the phone bill there are still 20 days since the end of that bill until I got this one where I was unaware it was charging me the 10 cents per minute so might be looking at additional $1500 on the next bill as well. AT&T stated I "did not exist in thier system nor have an account" (I don't and never authorized one either)I also noted that I had been looking into PeoplePC.com and they also use that number as access intown along with another shared number of Netzero. I'm totally at a loss and really need some sage words of wisdom. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
