Broadband Popup Problem -- Virus or ??

I have been getting a popup in the middle of my screen regarding a broadband connection while I am on the internet. If I click on "cancel" it goes away, but comes back, sometimes every 1-5 minutes or so. The heading is "Connect Broadband Connection" and it asks for my user name and password. At the bottom of the screen are the choices: Connect, Cancel, Properties and Help. It is only on this computer. I am running XP with SP3 on an older system, connected to the internet through our cable provider. I have AVG virus software. If anyone has any suggestions or knowledge of what this is, I would appreciate the info. I also have a screen shot of this, but don't see any way to post it. Thanks!

like it migght be simila to those fake antivirus scans. I would not click on it at all. I would close it out using task manager
