About a week ago my wifes computer suffered a crash and was shut down. After rebooting it seemed to be fine, but she discovered that the (DSL) internet connection was lost. We have two computers wired to a router - mine is working fine. Heres what weve done so far in an effort to fix the problem:
Went back to a restore point before the problem existed
Checked the NIC in device manager (all okay)
Reloaded the NIC drivers
Purchased and installed a new NIC
Tried to ping Google with no success.
The same condition exists as before all of the attempted fixes were done which is no Internet connection
Heres what we now have:
Device manages shows hardware is functioning properly.
Connection status window ... IPV4 ........ not connected
Connection status window ... IPV6 .........not connected
Windows diagnosis: Network adapter is experiencing driver or hardware related issues.
So, the same problems exist before and after the fixes and hardware replacement. Everythings the same and she still has no internet connection.
We don't know what else to try. Any help appreciated.
