Modem Problems

I recently installed a D-Link Wireless Router and after installing it, I noticed that after leaving the system for a while the internet connection would stop working. It is almost as if the DSL modem is timing out or something of a similar nature. I can still see activity lights indicating the connection is good, however no matter what I try I cant get the internet up. I have to unplug the DSL modem and reset it. Then the internet connection will restore itself. Any ideas?
