Lost my AT&T/Yahoo Homepage. Not sure what happened?

OK. I'm the guy you all make fun of. I'm a older computer idiot so please talk to me like a first grader. My internet provider is AT&T. It used to be called SBCglobal I guess. Recently there as been a prompt at log in to my homepage telling me I had to update because yahoo would no longer be my browser. So finally I did and just followed the prompts when it asked if I wanted it performed automatically. Well..It uninstalled my entire page. I was able to run a restore(yes, with someone's help) and it brought back a somewhat crippled version. I called them and they said to just use Internet Explorer as my connection. That they no longer provided me with a homepage.
Before this, I just had AOL. I am used to having a homepage for all my bookmarks, bill payment, saved website, work documents, etc. Should I just dump AT&T now? Though it's only $20 a month and I doubt I can find better, right? I thought all internet providers supplied you with a homepage? Any suggestions? Thank you for your patience and lack of insulting remarks in advance. ; )
