How can I open AOL docs/email from 2003 Mac Classic that are stored on my Mac in the current Mac OSX 10.7.3?

The reference was not for a Mac Classic but for the "Classic" environment offered during the transition by Apple to OSX --- and, yes, I do not have an older Mac on hand ....

I have two emails from AOL -- one was about Windows and the other was link with Mac OS X 10.2-ish screen shots -- when I tried to adapt the technique it failed in part because the current AOL Desktop found not open/recognize the saved AOL "Filing Cabinet" despite my concerns that the emails of concern are not concurrently residing there -- my backups are individual files, like a .doc, for example, that I would otherwise like to open with any available software.
I wonder if there is a non-AOL software solution for accessing these older files?

as you say, then any word processor will open them.
Word or Pages will open them without a problem.
You could even try TextEdit, on the off chance that it will open them

I was not saying a word proceeder could open the file I want, it was a for, example ....
