Apple's Mail app 10.5.8

How can you get rid of messages that simply won't delete? I've tried dumping them by just deleting, then I tried removing from the mbox folder too. I have 3-4 that just keep reappearing like a bad dream. The message areas are empty, but everything else just keeps showing up.

Try Rebuilding the Indexes

Select the inbox or folder that lists the emails and go to Mailbox menu and select Rebuild and see if that helps.
