Safari: Stability when enlarging text?

In Safari (4.0.4), if you are in the middle of a website that covers several pages and you enlarge the font, the text you are reading can shift off-screen.

If you do this in Firefox (3.5.7), the text that you are reading remains where it is.

The Firefox behaviour makes sense.

Is there any way to make Safari behave like Firefox?

I am running OS 10.6.2 on a MacBook Pro

Maybe you need to trash Safari preference file (users>your name>Library>preferences>com.apple.safari.plist); if this does not work, reinstall. It is now a standalone application.

Thanks for the reply. I will try trashing the preferences.

Are you enlarging the font with cmd+, or with ctrl and two finger swipe?

My text is unstable with cmd+ but stable with the swipe.

works well. Shame on me, but I was not aware of the second option. Another thought: try another account with admin privileges. If it works well, there must be some system problem on the main account, if not, the culprit could be Safari.
