FOLDERS MOVED AND NEED TO CHANGE IDENTITY

Trying to irganize my HD, I moved accidentally some of the Micrsoft folders that seem to be used in my Mac by the Office Programmes.
Entourage was not working and the only thing I have been able to do is to create a new IDENTITY and move there all the database folders. Now all seems to work. Are these IDENTITIEs only used bt Entourage or also affects some other programmes such as Word, Excel, PPoint, etc?

a bad move, as you just found out.

The Microsoft User Data folder which contains the Identities and the Entourage Mail databases, should live in your documents folder.
Yes, that folder is also used by the other applications that make up the MS Office suite on your Mac.

If it is all working now, just leave it as it is

Just to specify: the identity is part of users>user(your name)>Documents>Microsoft user data>Office identities. It is very easy to figure out that it only contains Entourage database, nothing related to other Office apps.
Your mail should be stored on the server normally. If not, chances are that your Mail app would be able to retrieve the same set of e-mails as Entourage. You just need to configure Mail the same way you do Entourage, with the same smtp and pop server names and password.

When I read your title, I thought you were so embarrassed about moving those folders that you wanted to enter a witness protection program. wink

As I don't use Entourage, I suspect that "identities" have some specific meaning in that programme.

(we could sure use some text tools - like bold, italics, underscore...)

Would like to thank you fr your help.
A.K.A., yes, identities are used in the Entourgae (seems the whole MS Office stuff). Thats the name that is given in the programme.
........ you couldn't imagine what has been to have family on top of me right after they checked emails had disappeared. Specially my dear wife (I'm checking what type of emails she has been so desperate to lose !!!!!!).
